Girls Christmas Tournament is a Success
Kader U10’s, Cestrian U12’s, Middlesbrough U14’s and Lumley U16’s took the honours in The Full Circle Hairdressers Girl’s Christmas Tournament that took place at Middlesbrough Football Club in the Community Eston on December 29th and 30th.
Teams from Kader, Teesside Athletic, MFC Girls, California Girls, Lumley ladies, Cestrian, Redcar Town, Nunthorpe, Arsenal ladies, South Park, Brompton, TIBS and many more competed in the indoor 5-a-side tournament which was ran in a league format which was closely fought throughout the day.
The Under 10’s category went right down to the wire with Kader and Teesside Athletic both finishing on the same points, goals scored and goals against. Therefore a playoff final game was needed to separate the two teams. Kader ended up winning 2-1 in extra time.Cestrian were the true winners of the U12’s age group. Cestrian didn’t drop a single point all day and beat Kader in the final.MFC Ladies were the winners of the U14s group by winning 9 games and drawing once, they ended up top of the league in front of the younger counterparts MFC Ladies U13’s.
In the U16’s category it was closely fought all day at the half way point MFC ladies were top by three points this stayed the same all the way throughout the day until the last game. Lumley Ladies A needed to beat MFC ladies to win the tournament on goal difference with MFC ladies only needing a draw. However, Lumley showed there quality and ran out 5-2 winners. All teams seemed to enjoy the event which was played on the indoor 5-a-side Astroturf facility within the Community Centre and HerlingshawBuilding. The tournament concluded with a presentation of prizes for the top two placed teams.
