Student of the Month
OVERVIEW
Football First’s Student of the Month is awarded to the student who we feel has excelled in any of our programmes.
The winner will be awarded with a chance to meet their favourite Boro players in the tunnel and walk on to the pitch before the big kick off.
They will also receive the much sought after signed ball from Middlesbrough Manager, Gareth Southgate.

Kimberlie Griggs
February Student of The Month was won by Kimberlie Griggs.Kim is a quality football player on the E2E programme and really enjoys games in centre.Kim is very popular with both learners and staff she has worked very hard and achieved her Level One Key Skills in Communications and Application of Number.
Kim was very happy to meet Gareth Southgate, but I think what made her and her friend's day was getting their photos taken with their favourite Boro player, Andrew Taylor!
Well done Kimmie, you deserved it!
FEBRUARY 08
Adam Rogers
Adam was awarded the Student of The Month Award in February for his excellent committment and attitude to the E2E programme.Adam is currently attending a work placement in a local car accessories shop and is enjoying gaining valuable work experience. He is working towards his Level One Key Skills qualifications and has an very good attendance record.Adam really enjoyed meeting the Boro players and getting his photo taken with Boro Boss, Gareth Southgate.
Well done Adam!
JANUARY 08
Michael Kirkham
Michael received this month’s award as he has shown an excellent attitude whilst on work placement at a local painting and decorating firm, Mitie.
Since Michael has started on the programme, he has achieved his Key Skills Communications at Level 1.
UPDATE:Michael has recently left the programme after been offered an apprenticeship in painting and decorating with Mitie.
All the staff and learners want to say well done to Michael and good luck in the future!

A new season, a new student of the month!This month we had 3 learners receiving the Student of The Month Award as they have all had an excellent attitude to the E2E programme!

All three learners were guests of honour for the Birmingham City game and received a signed ball each from Gareth Southgate.
To been awarded 'Student of The Month', the learner has to show an excellent attitude whilst on the programme and have full attendance. All three had been nominated for the award by their key workers.
"There was literally nothing splitting the three young lads so we decided to give all three of the learners the award''.
All three met Gareth Southgate and the Boro players before the game and each received a signed ball. ''Keep up the good work lads, it just shows a good positive attitude gets you noticed''.
UPDATE: JAMES MCSPORRAN AND ASHLEY HOGGARD ARE NOW BOTH EMPLOYED WITH MFCitC AS SPORTS ASSISTANTS AND ARE REALLY ENJOYING THE NEW CHALLENGE.ADAM IS ATTENDING MIDDLESBROUGH COLLEGE STUDYING ON AN UNIFORMED SERVICES COURSE WELL DONE FOR THESE GREAT ACHIEVEMENTS!
APRIL 2007
Michael Burniston
Michael was awarded April's Student of The Month Award, for demonstrating superb commitment whilst attending his work placement with a local construction firm.
Michael has gained his Site Safety Passport and improved his Maths and English skills.
Michael is always keen to help out both staff and learners and shows excellent maturity.

Anthony Cornwell
Anthony joined the Football First E2E programme in December 2006.He was awarded the Student of The Month Award, for his superb attitude and commitment towards the programme.
Anthony has proven to be an excellent student, gaining his Site Safety Passport and ICT Key Skills whilst on the programme. Anthony would like to be an electrician, he has been offered an apprenticeship and is currently looking for a suitable placement.
Anthony has an excellent attitude towards work and is very mature.
UPDATE: Anthony is now attending TTE studying on an aprenticeship programme.
FEBRUARY 2007
Gary Preece
Gary enrolled on the Entry to Employment programme with Football First in October 2006. He was awarded Student of The Month Award for 100% attendance and his willingness to help any task given to him.
Gary has gained his Manual Handling certificate whilst attending the programme and he is working towards improving his literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
With the help of specialist dedicated staff he will soon be looking for a employment within the retail sector. Gary has decided to improve his own learning by helping to run Football First new business venture “The Corner Flag” a tuck shop ran by the students for the students.
UPDATE Gary has now got a full time job in a local game shop
AUGUST 2006
The award this month is given to James Duggan a pupil from Archibald Primary School who recently attended the Making Football Count course.
James completed a five week programme and displayed excellent attendance, behaviour and work ethic in his time on the course.
James, from Whiney Banks in Middlesbrough, was the first student to receive the much sought after signed ball from new Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate.
